Clothing
Always read the washing instructions! They are found in the tag sewn in the neck or left seam of the garment. If it says Dry Clean Only – then dry clean only. If it says Hand Wash Only – hand wash only. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
If the garment can be machine washed, wash with similar colours and fabrics. Leave the towels and jeans out of the machine and make sure that bleach is nowhere to be seen or smelt!
We recommend that you wash all machine washable garments inside out to protect buttons, zips and finishings.
We recommend not to tumble dry clothes. They are precious to us, so we would prefer to take a little more time and care to keep them looking their best. We also find it best to dry dark clothes in the shade as the sun can fade the colours.
Do not hang wool or jersey as it can stretch and give you lumpy shoulders.
And if you’re really keen, you can even use a folding board to keep all your folded garments looking perfect on the shelves.
Accessories
We recommend using common sense with accessories.
Leather belts should be rolled or hung – do not fold as the leather could crease.
Scarves and wraps should be folded, rolled or hung – and remove any wrinkles with a warm (not hot) iron before wearing. Ikea sell a great scarf hanger - "Kompliment".
Necklaces should be rolled or hung so that they don’t form knots, and clean silver with a silver cloth.
Handbags should be emptied & stuffed before they are stored. We also recommend that leather bags are protected with a leather spray before use and conditioned periodically with leather care.
